Ray Mears tests his own courage as he takes part in the RAF's three-week survival course in Cornwall. He joins a team of 20 jet pilots, navigators and helicopter crew as they learn to survive at sea and on land. RAF aircrew can find themselves in action almost anywhere in the world, flying over desert, sea, jungle, woodland or the Arctic. If they are shot down behind enemy lines, they have to be able to survive in every environment. "In a few seconds, a fighter pilot can be catapulted from their jet worth millions of pounds into a Stone Age situation where they're surviving hand to mouth," says Ray. From learning to survive on water, the course moves to Dartmoor where Ray spends a week living rough in shelters, learning how to trap squirrels and birds, light fires and cook what he catches. It's wet and cold. When they go on the run for three days and nights, a hunter force is let loose to capture them. --- Ray Mears (born 1964) is a British author and TV presenter on the subject of bushcraft and survival techniques. He grew up in Southern England, and started tracking foxes at a young age. It was his Judo teacher who gave him the idea to learn survival skills. He has been teaching survival skills since 1983, when he founded the "Woodlore" School of Wilderness Bushcraft. His Outdoor Survival Handbook was published in 1990, and his first TV appearance was in 1993 in the BBC2 series Tracks. His presentation style is often praised as authoritative but relaxed and friendly. His love of his subject and his sense of communion with nature are evident in his programmes, as is his respect for indigenous cultures. He has developed something of a cult following amongst students in the United Kingdom. Ray Mears has become synonymous with survival and wilderness bushcraft through his television series Tracks, World of Survival, The Essential Guide to Rocks, and Extreme Survival. He spent his life leaning these skills and is a master of the subject. Wanting to be able to sleep out on the trail and unable to afford camping equipment, he resorted to a Robinson Crusoe approach to solving the problem. Digesting every scrap of information relating to survival that he could find in his local library, he soon began to re-learn skills that had not been employed on the North Downs for hundreds of years. Since those early days Ray has expanded his horizons by travelling the world. He has won the friendship of many nations and been privileged to accompany many tribes while hunting, tracking and searching for wild plants and medicine. In his early twenties Ray founded his company Woodlore, through which he trains both military and civilian audiences the skills of survival.

The large Civil Defense logo is exactly the same as the real one, with only small alterations so it isn't techincally a rip off. The voice over at the start is from the 1950's Duck and Cover film. The general scenes were filmed at my old high school. The desk he sits at is the desk I'm using right now! It my computer desk. All the maps you see in the film are from my dads trip around australia, so if you're good, you can spot a map of Australia in the War room scene. "This is billy's dad" scene was filmed outside my producers house. The pilot (me) is an Australian, wearing WW2 british clothes, in a WW1 plane, fighting against a french zombie, played by a british actor. I'm wearing paternity jeans when I play the farmer. The scythe the farmer uses the is the same one used on my first film called "The life of death" (a crappy film i'm not happy with) As Tom and Jane walk down the street, Tom is holding "The Zombie Survival Guide" by Max brooks. The war room extras are wearing the exact same armbands as the actors in the "Duck and Cover" film which has an exact same scene. Footage from "Duck and Cover" is used in the Tom and Jane emergency shelter scene. When Tom is firing the AK-47 at two zombies approaching him and Jane, the one of the right is wearing a black and white version of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" jacket. PART 1 of 5: A complete series of videos by Nutnfancy and my friend chronicling firemaking in cold and snowy conditions using backpacking equipment only. The series shows the scenery, adventure, survival philosophy, gear observations, our standard joking around, and the good times with long time friend BuggetNuster (YouTube name) and Allie the Mountain Dog. We hiked into the snowy and cold Rocky Mountain bivouac location I had chosen earlier for my Wilderness Lean-To series of videos. A few shelter mods are discussed and shown but the focus of these vids is the making of the fire. I used few edits in the video making because I needed to demonstrate the work needed to create a sustainable fire in these conditions. I have found no shortcuts in the wood preparation for wilderness fire making. Several blades including the Ontario RTAK II, Ontario RAT-7, and KaBar Heavy Bowie are used to strip limbs and baton the logs into burnable pieces with the advantageous sharp edges. They performed exceptionally well in the outing and withstood some real tough use in 15ºF cold (shown of course!). The Sawvivor backpack saw again proved its worth as an accurate and indispensable wood cutter, lubricated with frequent sprays of WD-40. Fire tender used this time was Trioxane solid fuel cake and REI Stormproof matches. The resulting fire was quite manly and heated the Lean-To to incredible levels. We had planned to also build a fire reflector and maybe some other structures but as usual the winter fire prep proved to be quite time consuming and high effort. And we wanted to kick back and enjoy our work afterwards. The outing and fire prep was lots of work but resulted in another great memory made with TNP subscribers and my buddies, BuggetNuster and Allie. Essential supplies to stock up on while you still can. Anything can happen in these uncertain times. It'll happen when you least expect it, and you'll need to be prepared. Natural disasters, Martial law, Economic Society Collapse, Domestic terrorism are just some of the things that can happen. This shows some of the cheaper supply options. There are some pretty good alternative options if your willing to spend the extra money. MREs have at least a 5 year shelf-life. Also a water filter would be great. I tried to add as much info as I could, and the video still went over 10 minutes. There may be a few items missing(garden seeds, vitamins, over the counter and prescription medicines, toilet paper, tampons, ect.). Also there are items that only pertain to your situation. Thanks.
